I already have a Croatian skipper's license issued before 2024 and I want to exchange it for a new, international one with VHF

Exchange of Croatian captain's license for a new, international one with VHF

Croatian VODITELJ BRODICE captain's licenses issued until 2024 have limited territorial validity only to the Adriatic Sea , which may cause certain problems when renting and operating a boat not only in Croatia, but also abroad.

THE OLD LICENSE DOES NOT INCLUDE A RADIO LICENSE (VHF) AND IS ONLY VALID IN THE ADRIATIC SEA

In 2021, a legislative amendment was made, which only took effect for licenses issued from 2024. All new licenses from this year contain VHF and are international .

We are here to arrange the exchange for you at the relevant harbour master's office in Croatia.

Why us?

The exchange cannot be done by correspondence - the license must be exchanged in person at the port authority that issued it.

Replacing your ID card is quick , only takes a few days

We communicate with you in Czech, with the authorities in Croatian - the exchange is carried out on site by a native speaker

Unlike you, we have experience with replacement - we have already replaced dozens of doors for our clients.

How much does the replacement cost:

The entire exchange costs 1990 CZK (80 EUR) plus postage and cash on delivery. Payment is made only after the exchange card is handed over to you, which we are able to hand over to you in person in Prague and the surrounding area. For more distant locations, we send it by PPL cash on delivery.

Co budeme od Vás potřebovat :

Your old ID card, two ID photos, a copy of your passport or ID card, we will fill out and submit the replacement application for you

ATTENTION: Only a valid license can be exchanged. If you actually took the exam at the captain's office in Croatia that issued the license, it is valid and there is nothing to prevent the exchange. If not, and it was anywhere else, on a ship, in the Czech Republic in a company that subsequently imported the license, etc., then the license is most likely fake and cannot be exchanged. About 15 years ago, such licenses had stamps from all possible captain's offices, but most of them were from Zagreb (Captain Miljetič). Using such licenses exposes you to high sanctions from the Croatian authorities, including a lifetime ban on obtaining a genuine license.

Crash course to obtain a Croatian captain's license, Group B

If you are considering obtaining a captain's license so that you can rent a boat at sea or you want to enjoy the wind in your hair on a sailboat and are considering yachting at sea, you need a " driving license" for a boat - a captain's license .

But how do you get a captain's license? Which captain's license should you choose? Where and with what to start? How to proceed?

As a Czech citizen, you can obtain 4 types of captain's licenses:

  1. Czech captain's license issued by the SPS (State Navigation Administration)

  2. Czech captain's license issued by the Ministry of Transport (MD)

  3. Croatian captain's license

  4. RYA English skipper's license

Each of these licenses has its own specifics. You need to think first about where you want to sail. And how much you want to devote yourself to yachting, whether you have your own boat or will rent one.

In any case, the ideal senior license, now with international validity, is the Croatian Group B.

The Croatian Boat Operator B license is valid in all territorial waters, i.e. up to 12 nautical miles from the shore and coastline. The license is valid for an unlimited period. The Croatian license also includes a radio operator license (ship radio license).

In practice, you can rent a boat almost everywhere with a Croatian license without any problems.

The exam is taken at the captain's office in Croatia and is oral, only theoretical. The exam consists of basic knowledge about ships and yachting, in English, German, Croatian and also in Czech.
